Recurring Deposit (RD) Calculator
The RD Calculator works out the maturity amount of a recurring deposit using quarterly compounding — the standard convention used by Indian banks and the post office.
Why an RD?
- Discipline. A fixed amount is auto-debited every month.
- Guaranteed returns. Unlike SIPs into mutual funds, RD returns are fixed at the time of opening.
- Short to medium horizons. Tenures from 6 months to 10 years suit goals up to 5–7 years out.
Note on tax
Interest from bank RDs is fully taxable as ordinary income. TDS is deducted by banks when annual interest exceeds the threshold (₹40,000 for non-seniors, ₹50,000 for seniors).
