The Savings Goal Calculator works two ways. Tell it how long you have, and it works out the monthly amount you need to save. Tell it how much you can save each month, and it tells you when you will reach the target.
How interest compounds the answer
Interest earned on the existing balance and on contributions cuts down the monthly amount required. The higher the expected return, the smaller the contribution — but real-world returns vary, so don’t assume more than 10–12% for long-horizon equity goals.
