Redact PDF

The Redact PDF tool covers sensitive information — names, account numbers, addresses, signatures — with solid black bars that cannot be removed by a recipient. Use it before sharing screenshots, leaked documents, or sample contracts.

How redaction works here

You drag boxes over the regions you want to hide. When you save, the tool first draws black rectangles using pdf-lib and then re-renders the entire document into a raster image. This second pass guarantees that the redacted text is gone — it cannot be recovered by selecting under the black bar or by inspecting the underlying PDF content stream.

Tips

• Zoom in on the page before drawing for tighter selections.
• Use multiple smaller boxes rather than one big one if the content is irregular.
• Because the output is image-based, file size may grow on text-heavy pages.
