DNS Propagation Checker
Check how far a DNS record has propagated across major global resolvers.
What is DNS Propagation?
DNS Propagation Checker
When you update a DNS record (such as pointing your domain to a new server), the change does not take effect immediately everywhere. This is because DNS resolvers around the world cache records for a period defined by the TTL value.
Resolvers Checked
- Google (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4): The most widely used public DNS resolver globally.
- Cloudflare (1.1.1.1): Privacy-focused resolver known for fast response times.
- OpenDNS (208.67.222.222): Enterprise-grade resolver with filtering capabilities.
- Quad9 (9.9.9.9): Security-focused resolver that blocks malicious domains.
- AdGuard (94.140.14.14): Privacy-focused resolver with ad-blocking.
Reducing Propagation Time
To speed up propagation, lower your DNS record TTL to 300 seconds (5 minutes) before making changes. After the change is live and verified, you can increase the TTL back to a higher value like 3600 or 86400 seconds.
